I wrote research papers in college about high efficiency transmission lines, renewables, and nuclear power as solutions to our outdated grid. I’ve worked in the HVAC industry, electronics industry and was here for the freeze last year. This is a very important topic for me and I’d love to work on getting our grid back in shape.
Living in an apartment is one of the only options for a lot of people (including myself) because we can’t afford to own a home. Still, private and corporate landlords raise rent faster than wages and expect people to keep up. Regulating rent increase is a necessary step to address housing costs that I will work on
Texas is home to 3 of the 10 largest cities in the USA and there’s no public transport between them. Connecting Texas cities should be a priority to everyone. Dallas is working to expand access to public transit through the building of new stops, but in order to facilitate a shift away from private cars, the State needs to step in and subsidize the use of alternative transport.
Recycling and Composting
I currently have to drive my recycling out to a local plant because the apartment I live in does not support recycling or composting. This should be standard practice in high density living areas such as apartments. I also would love to develop a state-wide composting initiative that would help local farmers and our environment
